Define professionalism/ compare to other professional fields. List 10 aspects of professionalism in the Early Childhood Field: -View of self -Demeanor and dress -Ethics and confidentiality (look at NAEYC Ethic standards) -Unconditional positive regard for children, families, other staff -Paperwork, (including attendance, lesson plans, policies, etc.) -Organization -Safety -Professional growth (including professional organizations, continuing education/training, available resources) -Connections between families and community resources (including referrals) -How difficulties are handled Look at the ITERS/ECERS standards of quality in professionalism. Discuss: What is teacher burn-out? What can you do about it? Discuss the future of ECE in Idaho
