Course
Baby Talk: Language and Literacy in the First Three Years
Description
During the infant/toddler years, children transform crying into different sounds and gestures and then into recognizable words with exact meanings.  No child can accomplish this amazing transformation without the help of adult language models. What role do we play as caregivers in language development? How do we lay a proper foundation for emergent literacy? How can books be used effectively with infants and toddlers? How can we use the Idaho eGuidelines and the ITERS-3 and as resources that will help us know what children should be learning, when they should be learning it and how? Answer these questions and more! You will be able to try out new activities and ideas and come away with fun, easy, appropriate handouts and resources that you can use right away.
