Description
Preventing Obesity and Promoting Wellness in Early Childhood Settings is a distance training available online and through the regional lending libraries. Each Module has 5 training hours and is part of a 4 module training series. All 4 modules may be completed over the course of a year for 20 total training hours. The training is designed to be self-paced and self-directed over the course of 1 – 3 months for each module. Module 4: Family Style Dining; explores the importance of positive messaging in early childhood settings specific to food and nutrition. According to the White House Report on Childhood Obesity, “Parents and child care providers are sharing the responsibility for a large and growing number of children during important developmental years. Early childhood settings, including both child care centers and informal care, present a tremendous opportunity to prevent obesity by making an impact at a pivotal phase in children’s lives.”
