Serving Whole Grain-Rich in the CACFP (Nutrition Works/Jannus)
Description
2019 CACFP, This class will provide information on identifying whole grain-rich products as defined by the USDA's six methods. Participants will have an opportunity to look at a variety of product labels and determine whether they meet whole grain-rich criteria or not. Handouts on the six methods of whole grain-rich identification will be provided.

Join Melissa Smicker, Master of Nutrition Education and Certified CACFP Child Nutrition Professional for a fun and informative evening exploring criteria for whole grain-rich. Learn why serving whole grain-rich is important, how to determine if the grains you are serving are whole grain-rich, and the CACFP required serving sizes for age groups 1-2, 3-5, and 6+. We'll look at lots of different grain products on the market to see if they meet the whole grain-rich criteria for CACFP. Class is held at the Jannus building, 1607 W. Jefferson St., Boise. There are some parking spots at the rear of the building off the alley or street parking. Class begins promptly at 6:30pm.
